Favorite foods

We all have foods we love, and I mean L-O-V-E. I have one friend who loves peaches so much she risked getting strep throat from her son so that she could eat half of his peach. And she did get strep from that tasty bite.

My son on the other hand has foods he hates, and I mean H-A-T-E-S. Pretty much, he hates all food that doesn't come out of a baby container, and even some of those he is iffy about. The ladies at daycare laugh about how picky he is. He watches everyone else eat and then turns up his nose (or rather he closes his mouth as tight as it will go and shakes his head violently "NO") when he is offered the same thing. I have no idea where he has gotten this picky gene. :)

We have found one thing he L-O-V-E-S. Graham Crackers. Graham Crackers are his FAVORITE thing in the whole wide world! I will mix other stuff with them, just to try to trick him into eating something new and he will search through and pick out only the crackers, there is no fooling this little man.

Last night.. I we hit a breakthrough. We now have two foods that Liam L-O-V-E-S.

1. Graham Crackers.
2. Rice.

Yes, rice. By the fist full he was shoving rice into his little cheeks. Liam shoves nothing into his mouth. He examines everything first. But rice.. rice got the seal of approval. When I tried to add chicken to the rice he picked around it out or spit it out if he accidently got a piece of protein on his tongue. He fed the dogs the chicken, but he kept all the rice for himself.

Dogs were happy. Parents were happy. Liam was happy. Then mommy kicked daddy's butt in Mario Kart. It was a win-win night all the way around.

The Kitchen

I finally got around to taking some pictures so you could see our kitchen cabinets! Minus some doors, the kitchen is complete!

Send your picture and I will put it on our messy fridge!
Liam's favorite spot is right where you see him - playing with his Leap Frog table... which he has thanks to Aunt Dawn and Uncle Anthony!

Thank you Southwest for low fares!

Grandma Teri and Aunt Leslie jumped a plane and came for a visit last weekend!

This is yet another story best told in pictures.
A simple tilt of the head, a shy smile, eyes that say "please" and Liam could have anything he wanted from Grandma.
Yes, Liam went out in public in this outfit that Grandma Teri had gotten for him... please take special notice of the pants.

We did leave Liam alone with them for two eight hour days.... and we aren't so sure that was the best idea...
SOMEHOW this scratch appeared on my child. They claim not to know how it got there. Humm... grandma was probably letting him do something he wasn't supposed to, like hanging out the sunroof or drinking out of the dog bowls

(totally kidding, Grandma would never let him drink out of dogs bowls, that is all me). BUT THE SCAR - I'm still questioning that. :)

Liam was not interested in taking these pictures... but that didn't stop us!
The Buckinghams.

We are sad they are gone. Now we have to get up in the mornings and take care of Liam ourselves. Come back soon!

Bye-Bye Mullet

The scissors were sharp, the mullet was grown, the bangs were long, Liam was clueless.

Let the cutting begin:

Hi everyone, getting my first haircut!

I'm not sure I am going to like this. Mom, didn't anyone tell you not to play with scissors, especially near a baby.

Yeah, I don't like this.

Oh no! Not my mullet

I have been growing my mullet my whole life and you are just going to cut it off.

HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME!

Is it over? Is the torture finally over?

NBC's Tim Russert dies at 58 after collapsing

This headline makes me so sad. I am not a real political person, but I loved watching him on the Today show and on Meet the Press. Goodbye Tim, I'm sad we never met and you could have told me who you would have voted for... off the record of course.

Going to the pool

Sure, the pool is a bit small and it's pink.
But bottom line, it's hot outside and the water is just as refreshing in a small pink pool as in a big pool. Liam was happy with his first swim outside the tub.

Runny nose vs pink eye

Here is my confession. My son got a runny nose last Sunday, along with a slight cough, and a few more sneezes than normal. BUT he was eating and playing as normal so come Monday morning, I wiped his nose and took him to daycare. Where I waited all day for them to call me and say, Please come get your sick kid. Call never came, whew.

All week he has had this runny nose, but the cough and the sneezing have left. I got the runny nose and the sneeze as well. Which did make me have a pang of guilt. Oh geez, so my kid is probably sort of contagious and he might have given other kids this runny nose. The good news being, it's really not that bad... just annoying.

This morning I take him in. One of the mother's is still there and she so happens to also work at daycare. And this conversation takes place in front of me:

The daycare worker goes, "I think Mason might have pink eye"
The mother says, "Really? He has had discharge from it the past few days".
Daycare worker says "Yeah, it's going around upstairs (big kids rooms)."
Mother "humm..."

Then everyone just sits there and goes about their business. Now people, I am not a freak out type person. I did give Liam the look, you know, the look that says, DO NOT PLAY WITH MASON TODAY... DO NOT GO NEAR MASON, IF MASON APPROACHES YOU, CRAWL AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! I hope Liam understood that look. He has a hard time understanding me when I want him to do something, but this, this I needed him to understand.

And I do realize it is probably payback, as I did send my semi-sick child to daycare. There has to be a difference between a minor cold and PINK EYE. THERE HAS TO BE A DIFFERENCE. One is HIGHLY contagious, and oozes grossness out of the eyeball! COME ON! Only oozing from Liam is a little, normal colored snot.

If I get him today and he gets pink eye, or worse, gives me pink eye. I am going to... well, I will probably do nothing and say nothing. But I will write about it for all of you to know!

Watching out for Mocha

Mom, did you know Mocha is outside?
And did you know I look like an escaped convict in my outfit?

Hey mom, I think Mocha wants in.
