A lot happened yesterday:
1. Farrah Fawcett died... not really going to lie, about all I knew about her is she was a Charlie's Angel for one year... does surprise me that it was for only one year. She made hair history with the feather look. And I discovered she had been married to Lee Majors.. THE FALL GUY!
2. Michael Jackson died... the news flew through the halls of my workplace. My boss came into my office and said, this is what people felt like when Elvis died! Okay.. people, I mean... Michael was a legend, the King of Pop... but ELVIS? I am not really sure what people felt like when Elvis died, but for some reason I am going to believe it was different. I do know what I felt like when Princess Diana died, and I was much sadder with Diana died... perhaps that is weirdness on my part. Pol and I spent the better portion of last night watching Michael's old videos on youtube (thank the Lord for youtube). I had forgotten so many of the songs, but yet as soon as I saw the videos I would instantly remember. I wasn't a huge Thriller fan.. video scared me.. and still does. Michael made history, the glove, the jacket, the Pepsi commercial with the hair on fire, the moves, the crotch grabbing, wacko jacko..... it's all part of him. As many, I will choose to remember the early Michael, but the scary Michael is part of who he was... and what made him. I will not be surprised when it comes out he has been frozen and this is all part of his comeback tour.
3. We picked our first cherry tomato in the garden. We love doing a garden, but rarely does it do overly well. This year, thanks to Jon and Teri, it looks like it is going to produce like crazy!
4. The last thing that happened yesterday... Liam locked himself into the bathroom. I was on the other side. Bath tub water was running. Pol was not home.
Let me break it down for you.... I started Liam's bath.. with bubbles, he has gotten over his fear. I went out to the kitchen to put away dinner dishes. Pol calls and says he will be on his way home soon. I hear Liam talking to the bubbles in the bathroom. Then I don't hear Liam, so I walk over and see the door closed, not odd... he likes to open and close doors. I try to get in... it's locked. IT'S LOCKED.... AND WATER IS RUNNING. I am still on the phone with Pol and I totally freaked out. Pol goes "Break it down". Really... REALLY? My 130lb self is going to break down a solid wood door. I hang up on Pol and I attempt to break down the door... doesn't even move. I call Rob and ask him where he is.. he says, Pol just called and I am on my way. Because Rob and his 150lb self is going to break down the door. I keep talking to Liam who is still talking about bubbles. I have this great fear, THIS will be the time he decides he wants to get into the tub himself. So I keep talking to him. Then I decide maybe I can remove the doorknob. I go and get a screwdriver and begin to chip away the 80 years of paint over paint jobs dried to the door, knob, and lock. I finally get two screws out... and start to jiggle the heck out of the knob.. and Liam opens the door (he must have figured out how to unlock it, because my handy work didn't do it)... "hi momma" he says. OH MY GOSH... people I was FREAKED OUT. I call Pol and Rob and say the emergency is over. But my heart did not stop pounding until about an hour later.
Here is the door.. guess we will need a new one. I literally could peel the white paint off, there were so many layers! Under the door is the actual lock. I couldn't even get to the lock's screws.. so my thinking was if I could get the door knob off I could unlock... good thing Liam unlocked it, I think my plan had some flaws.

From the hairy side of things....
Haircuts are running in the family... next I will be buzzing Liam's head. haha.... no seriously... I just might. I got my pony tail chopped off! and I love my new "mommy" haircut.
Here are a few pics of my haircut via the playground at the zoo.
Liam loves tackling mom and dad
He also loves tackling and flipping over on the fishy.

The Pee Story
I really wish I had a picture of this story, but sadly I do not carry a camera around my neck. Last night was going to be Liam's first bubble bath. We discovered the bubbles when cleaning out from under the bathroom sink. (the clean out came because of a leaking faucet... really, are you surprised at all).
So we get the bath all ready and Liam is standing to the side of the tub yelling "bubbles! bubbles!". Then I tell him I need him to be a naked baby... which he runs away saying "no... no... no." As usual, I chase him down and strip him naked wherever I catch him. Tonight it was in the kitchen. I take off all clothes including diaper, turn around to go back to the bathroom, this is the point he normally follows. Pol walks in from outside right at this moment, and goes, "Hey, umm, he's peeing." I turn around and Liam is not drizzling pee.. he is full on shooting pee all around him. To which I say "oh Liam!" So once he's done he starts to walk to me... he slips in his pee, falls down, wallows a bit, and cries bloody murder. I scoop him up and I think putting him in the bathtub will cheer him up... he was excited about the bubbles mere moments ago... right?
Wrong.. such a bad idea. I plop him down in the bubbles where he FREAKS out... cannot get the bubbles away from him fast enough. so needless to say it was a speedy bath time. He did not calm down until he was out of the tub and into his comfy pjs.
Lessons learned:
1. Pee can be dangerous
2. Bubbles can be scary
I am just glad Scout didn't think it would be fun to 1. drink the pee or 2. wallow in the pee herself.

Bald head
After getting many strange looks and hearing "WHOA MOHAWK" numerous times yesterday, Pol decided he would much rather be bald.

The Cut
Every marriage has trials... and it's the trials that you look back and laugh at. Pol and I had one of those times last night. I personally am already laughing at the situation, but it might take Pol about a month (or whenever his hair grows back) to laugh.

Let the Wild Rompus Begin!
"Where The Wild Things Are" is his new fav book. I really can't figure out what it is he likes about it. There are no cars, no trains, no airplanes... all his usual prerequisites to liking a book. But I am not complaining, I will read this book till Max gets his hot dinner over and over. AND... he likes for mommy to read it to him more than he likes daddy to read it... hahaha.. guess I roar my terrible roar, gnash my terrible teeth, roll my terrible eyes, and show my terrible claws better than old daddy.
This might be the first feature film Liam sees...Where The Wild Things Are

mermaids
Wednesday at daycare is water day.
Sidenote: I wish my work had water day!
This water day is new to me. I didn't even know it exsisted until the Tuesday before the first water day... and the note sent home said "don't forget WATER DAY TOMORROW! bring swimmers, towel, and swimsuit."
What happened on Wed... of course, I totally forgot. I am so terrible, I did not even remember until around 10am. To be honest, I thought, oh well... he will be fine. Well Pol called at some point and I told him about my absentmindedness. Pol was like "'WHAT? Will Liam just be sitting off to the side all by himself?!?" I said, "I reckon... he'll be fine."
Sidenote: pol is a good daddy
Pol leaves work at lunch, goes to two different stores looking for swimmers diapers. Finds swimmers, runs by the house, finds Liam's swimsuit and grabs a towel. Rushes to daycare with the water wardrobe. Whew... Liam didn't have to sit on the sidelines while all the other kids romp around in the H2O! When I got home that night and saw the swimmers package, I said.. "Pol? These have The Little Mermaid all over them, did they not have boy swimmers?" Pol was like... "I couldn't find any others, I was in a hurry. " Forgiven.. plus, who sees the diapers anyway, they have swim suits on.
Sidenote: No. No they do not wear swimsuits.
For a few weeks now I have been sending my son to water day with his girly swimmers, not really thinking anything of it (because they are covered up... right? RIGHT? Then... Pol came home yesterday and said we have to watch the 6 o'clock news, Holly Street is going to be on because of some story.
Another Sidenote: nothing bad, but Holly Street is like the #1 daycare in nashville, so they were using them as an example of greatness. or something like that
We watch the news... and suddenly I realize, these little people all run around pretty much naked, minus the swimmer diapers. No swim trunks at all.... just Ariel tattooed on Liam's toushie for the world to see. So there it is... my son is running around daycare in Princess diapers. Don't get me wrong... he's man enough to pull it off. But I might have to run to Target this weekend and buy some Nemo swimmers and keep the sea Princess swimmers for swim time at home, alone.
Last Sidenote: Yes, Liam we will pay for the counseling.

Update to shoe drama
This morning he picked out velcro shoes (granted... the shoes he picked out are too small for his feet, but whatever, he wanted those shoes, so let's go with it). The drama this morning came when he had to put socks on with the shoes. He did NOT want socks on... alas, I did get socks on him. Really... is this what every morning is going to turn into? I think I might go buy him a second pair of daycare approved shoes today so that I can hide all the others until the weekends, but he still has a "choice" during the week.

Writing and shoes
I looked through some older blog posts the other day and realized that every once in awhile I would actually write without pictures. These day it seems I only post if I have pictures or video. While I do consider this blog as more of an online scrapbook to Liam.. and sometimes house renovation. I guess I could get around to posting even if I don't have pics... though I know our smiling mugs are what you would much prefer to see... or at least Liam's smiling mug. Too bad... my terrible writing is what you will be getting more of. On the bright side... you will get the day by day play of what crazy things our almost 2 yr old does!
Here is a story from this morning, sadly I have no pictures to accompany it with. I was getting ready for work and put my "shoes" on... in other words, I flipped over my flip-flops and shuffled my feet into them. Liam saw this and yelled SHOES! He runs off to his room to grab his SHOES! He was not even out of his PJs and I tried to explain that we couldn't put the shoes on until the clothes went on. He wasn't happy, but conceeded to getting dressed. As soon as the shorts went up he ran over to his shoes. Unfortunately.. the shoes Liam has chosen are slip-ons (he likes these best because he can get them off on his own)... which he cannot wear to daycare (only velcro shoes are allowed). I proceed to tell Liam he has to wear these other shoes...which then caused the breakdown of the year. HE WAILED.. WAILED that he couldn't wear the shoes he had chosen. Finally I got the daycare approved shoes on his feet and got him into the car... where he wailed SHOES SHOES SHOES until we hit daycare. He finally calmed down as we went inside... but seriously... Shoe drama.
