A-Team vs. Perfume

Pol's mom is in town and here is what you missed:

Pol: "You should see how transfixed L becomes when the A-team theme song comes on. Seriously he can be really into doing something else and the moment the theme music starts he is glued. It's just the theme. I think because of the cars chases."

Teri: "OH, yes. When you were little, you were like that with this perfume commercial...."

I am not really sure what was said after she said "perfume commercial" because I was doubled up on the floor laughing hysterically.

Kid of the Week

This week at school, L is the treasured "Child of the Week". Now, I have passed by the glowing cork board of the child on most high, but I have never even looked at it. Nor did I even wonder how a child is awarded this honor. Actually, I still don't know how a child is awarded this honor. I just know MY precious little buds is featured this week.

Last Friday they sent home the note letting us know L is to be honored this week. They also sent an instruction list. Yes. INSTRUCTIONS. So that we, the parents, know how to bow correctly to our wee one. okay, not really. But there were instructions. This event is no solo event, it's a full on parent participation event.

First, we had to write a bio. A BIO for a 3 yr old. So basically this took Pol and I a really long time to work on because we kept having to edit down all our sarcastic remarks. We were left with:

L: A life of poo.

Then we had to give them lots of photos to hang up on the wall of fame. Luckily I have a thousand and one photos of L kept safely on our external hard drive. Unluckily, none of those have ever made it to print. I spent my wild Saturday night sifting through the past few months of ridiculously cute photos. Finally whittling it down to a select chosen few for his classmates to be jealous of his extreme cuteness.

Now, since L will only be there 2 days this week, we actually tried to cram in his glory. Today he took his fav book, his fav toy, his fav music, and his fav snack. The fav snack involved this momma having to get up early to make 20 chocolate chip muffins. Okay, I didn't really get up early. And well, I wanted a muffin myself, so it was more of a treat to make them for him and his classmates.

PS. I made the new whole wheat choc. chip muffins... not really sure why I even attempted to buy "healthy". They are what they are. And they are better when they are not whole wheat. They are better when the fat can really get soaked up by the white wheat. (I have no idea if that is what happens, but I could tell the whole wheat did not hold the lard I am accustomed to savoring)

SO... without any further ado:

The Kid of the Week

Illness

Here's the quick rundown. Last week I was out of town on Thursday and Friday. L came down with a terrible cold. Pol was super daddy and cradled the boy back to health by the time I got home Friday night. L still had a cough over the weekend, but nothing terrible. Since I wasn't around you would think I wouldn't get sick.. right?!?

Wrong.

I got sick on Monday. And I have had a terrible, awful, no good cold since then. Tonight I will be putting my head into one of those Netti pots as a, oh sweet Jesus, please let this work, last resorts.

Yesterday I actually stayed home from work. Thinking, oh good, I will just lie in bed all day and wallow in my stuffy pain. But being a mother means you don't get to wallow. Your son comes first. L woke up rather early yesterday morning complaining of a stomach ache. But since he had been sick the week before he realized the way into cuddle time at any time of the day or night was to be sick. Pol and I both thought.. oh, he's just saying that. He wasn't. About 7am he threw up all over Pol. Then about 7:30am he threw up all over the bathroom. About 7:45am he threw up in the toilet! YAY! Throw up training. Check.

Then L laid in bed with me for the rest of the day (I kicked Pol out of the germ filled house at about 10am telling him I could care for L and he needed to get out now while he could).

We watched Cars. Then we watched Cars. Then he threw up. Then we watched Cars.

Then he did one more big throw up - lucky most of that landed in a bowl I had thought I should put in bed with us.. just in case. After that, he was worn out and fell asleep. I also slept. We woke up around 5:30pm and L popped up and goes HELLO! As if a new creation, the boy was healed.

Pol brought home How To Train Your Dragon (ps. very cute, and grandmas should put it on their Christmas list for him).. L watched that and ate a few graham crackers. And he was bouncing off the walls.. as if he had not been throwing up for the past 10 hours.

I know I shouldn't think my sick kid is cute.. BUT... pretty cute.. huh?

Off to get one of these Netti pots.. I'll video the process for you. I hear it's really gross.

L-I-am: Weather Channel

L might be a 60 year old stuck in a 3 yr old body. Or he might idolized his granddaddy a bit too much.

For the past month L only wants to watch the weather channel. By the way... we don't even get cable. But with the digital box we get this pseudo weather channel. He loves it. LOVES.IT.

He asks to turn from Dr. Suess in the mornings to the weather channel. And he gets angry if we don't do it. ANGRY.

When he is not watching the weather he tells us "We don't need to watch TV all the time". WHO'S KID IS THIS? These words have never come out of my mouth!

My favorite thing is he will be playing with his cars or whatnot and start repeating the weather "All over Tennessee..."

For real.

Granddaddy will be proud.

Halloween Madness

I have a bazillion photos from this past weekend. But alas, space in the world wide web is limited (and waiting for photos to upload drives me nuts) so I shall only bring you a few documenting the happiness that was:

After trick-or-treating at this house L came back to me and said "That person scares me."
Me too son.
Me too.
